8-inch rugged industrial tablet with optional 2D scanner and fingerprint sensor

8-Inch Rugged Industrial Tablet

A one-handed-balance Android tablet built for warehouses, inspection routes and vehicle mounts — with the scanning, battery and connectivity options that consumer tablets never get right.

Display, platform and battery

The 8.0-inch panel runs 800 × 1280 as standard, with 1920 × 1200 available as a build option. The standard resolution is the practical choice for scanning, picking lists and form entry: larger hit targets, less scrolling, lower power draw. Specify the higher-resolution panel only if operators read drawings or dense PDFs in the field — it costs battery life and buys nothing for WMS work.

An MTK 6765 octa-core at 2.3 GHz sits behind it. This is a mid-tier platform chosen for thermal headroom inside a sealed housing rather than benchmark scores: it runs a scanner SDK, a WMS client and background sync at the same time without throttling in a 40 °C vehicle cab. Memory starts at 3 GB + 32 GB. Choose 4 GB or 6 GB if you run MDM, a kiosk launcher and several enterprise apps together, and 64 GB or 128 GB storage if the device caches offline records or photos.

The 10,000 mAh pack is rated around 8 hours of typical use and over 300 hours standby, which covers a full shift with radio and scanner active. It is sealed and non-removable — the trade-off for IP65/IP67 ingress protection. Fleets running continuous shifts should plan charging around the shift pattern rather than battery swaps. Where a device genuinely cannot return to a charger, a vehicle dock with Pogo power is the answer, not a spare pack.

Android 12 ships GMS-ready with standard MDM and zero-touch enrolment, so provisioning, kiosk lockdown and remote wipe work with the usual enterprise tooling.

Standard connectivity and interfaces

The port set matters more than the spec sheet suggests, and one item carries most of the weight: a 12-pin Pogo Pin connector on the back. Vehicle docks and charging cradles use it, so power and data pass through spring contacts and the Type-C port is never cycled hundreds of times a month. That single choice decides whether a fleet's first hardware failure is a worn connector or something that actually needs a warranty claim.

Alongside it are USB 2.0, OTG Type-C, 3.5 mm audio, DC 5 V/3 A and Mini HDMI. Wireless covers dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 with BLE, and full-band 4G LTE with a single SIM slot. Positioning uses GPS, BeiDou and GLONASS together — multi-constellation reception is what keeps a fix in yards and between buildings, where a single constellation drops out. A TF slot accepts cards up to 128 GB for offline maps or photos.

Optional modules and data capture

Three 2D imagers are available: Honeywell 6603, Zebra SE4710 and NLS CM60. All three read 1D and 2D codes, including screen-displayed and damaged labels, so the choice comes down to your label stock and working distance rather than a headline number. Test decode rates on your own labels — frozen, curved and low-contrast ones included — before committing a fleet. That test tells you more than any comparison table.

Two further modules are optional. A capacitive fingerprint sensor certified to FBI PIV FAP20 supports identity checks at the point of work, and offline second-generation ID card reading is available for markets that use it. Both are factory-fitted, so they change the build: sample timing and price are confirmed in writing rather than assumed.

Operating conditions and durability

Ingress protection is IP65 as standard, with IP67 available as an option. IP65 means dust-tight sealing plus water jets from any direction — enough for dust, rain and washdown-adjacent areas. IP67 adds short-term immersion, which is worth specifying for food processing, marine or outdoor sites where a device may end up in water. That difference is a sealing specification, not a durability claim; the IP rating comparison explains what each level does and does not cover.

Drop rating is 1.5 m onto concrete with the device powered on, over Corning third-generation tempered glass. The operating range is −20 °C to 50 °C, storage −20 °C to 60 °C. Two practical notes: −20 °C puts this model at the boundary for freezer work, where battery behaviour and condensation need site testing rather than assumption — the cold storage guide lists the five checks worth running; and 50 °C is an operating limit, so a unit left on a dashboard in direct summer sun will exceed it before it is even switched on.

Applications and integration

Warehouse and 3PL: cart-mounted picking with a 2D imager, putaway confirmation and cycle counting on one device. Pair it with our 5-inch handheld PDA where picking is one-handed and scan-intensive; the warehouse rollout guide covers the deployment sequence.

Field service and inspection: full-band 4G keeps work orders syncing outside the building, and the Pogo Pin dock charges in the vehicle between sites so the device never sits on a desk charger overnight.

Manufacturing floor: DC-in and Pogo mounting suit fixed stations and AGV trolleys, and the sealed housing tolerates dust and washdown-adjacent areas without a separate enclosure.

Cold chain: the −20 °C limit covers most chilled and frozen work, but battery capacity and condensation across temperature zones need a site test first. The cold storage guide sets out the five checks worth running.

OEM / ODM from the factory

We manufacture this platform in-house. That means boot logo and launcher customisation, pre-installed software, region-specific 4G bands, accessory engineering (docks, mounts, batteries) and firmware changes are all handled by the same team that builds the boards — not a trading company. Typical OEM minimum order quantities are far below what brand-name vendors require.

Ordering information

MOQ is 2 units, a sample is built in about 3 days and mass production runs about 25 days. Figures move when the build leaves the standard 8-inch specification — a different imager, more memory or a vehicle bracket — and those are quoted in writing before you order.

MOQ2 units. Many buyers run one on the warehouse pilot and keep one on the integration bench, so evaluation does not wait for a full rollout.
SampleBuilt and shipped in about 3 days from the standard 8-inch build, then checked against the acceptance criteria you agreed before mass production — the normal route when the imager, memory tier or branding changes.
Lead timeAbout 25 days from sample approval to shipment for the configuration and quantity on your order. Where your market adds radio or safety testing, a written schedule covering samples, verification and mass production is issued before the first sample is built.
SDK and documentationAPI and SDK support for the modules on your build — 2D imager, UHF RFID or NFC — plus the agreed specification sheet. Data formats and kiosk or MDM behaviour are confirmed before the order is placed.
CertificationThe Android 12 build is GMS-certified, and ingress protection is verified to the IP rating on the datasheet rather than inferred from the housing, and IP sealing is verified to the rating on the datasheet. Requirements your destination market adds — CE, UKCA, FCC or UN 38.3 — are agreed before production so the test plan fits the schedule.
PackagingRetail box contents and carton dimensions are in the specification above; pallet quantities and incoterms are agreed with the order. Hand straps, docks and spare batteries ship in the same carton or separately, as you prefer.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tablet suitable for one-handed use?
At 890 g it is a two-handed device for extended holding, but balances well on a forearm strap or pick cart. If your workflow is scan-heavy with one hand free, the 5-inch handheld PDA at 242 g is the better fit.
Can it read damaged or screen-displayed barcodes?
Yes, when configured with a 2D imager (Zebra SE4710 or Honeywell 6603). Both decode screen codes and damaged/DPM labels. We recommend testing decode rates on your actual labels before rollout.
Does it support MDM and zero-touch enrolment?
Yes. The Android 12 build supports GMS and standard MDM platforms (kiosk mode, remote provisioning and app push), so fleets can be deployed without touching each unit.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
MOQ is 2 units. A sample takes about 3 days and mass production about 25 days once the configuration is confirmed. Send the configuration you need through the contact form for a written schedule.
