5-inch industrial handheld PDA with 2D barcode scanner, NFC and physical function keys

5-Inch Industrial Handheld PDA

A 242-gram Android mobile computer built around scanning — choose Honeywell, Zebra or Newland imagers, add UHF RFID or biometric modules, and deploy a fleet that survives the shift.

Why picking lines run on this class of device

  • One-handed, all shift. 178 × 83 × 17 mm and 242 g — the difference between a device workers reach for and one they leave on the cart.
  • Scan engines by name, not marketing: Honeywell HS7, Zebra SE4710 or Newland CM60/N1 — pick the decode profile your labels demand.
  • Beyond barcodes: UHF/LF RFID (125K / 134.2K / 13.56 MHz), Ministry-certified fingerprint, offline ID card reading and embedded facial recognition — modules, not compromises.
  • Android 12 with NFC standard (ISO/IEC 14443A, 1–3 cm) for badge login and asset tagging out of the box.
  • Global-ready connectivity: full-band 4G LTE (B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B38–B41), dual-band WiFi and BeiDou/GPS/GLONASS.

Typical deployments

Warehouse picking and cycle counting: the core use case — fast 2D decoding, one-handed operation, and an 8-hour battery matched to the shift.

Asset and livestock tracking: LF RFID options (125K/134.2K) cover ear tags and asset tags that 2D imagers cannot touch.

Identity and access workflows: certified fingerprint plus ID card reading in one unit — no second device for compliance checks.

Pairing guidance: run this PDA for scan-dense tasks alongside the 8-inch rugged tablet for paperwork-heavy stations — most of our warehouse customers deploy both.

OEM / ODM, factory direct

Boot logo, custom launcher, preloaded apps, region-specific LTE bands and module selection are all configured at the factory. Because we build the platform ourselves, module combinations (e.g. RFID + fingerprint together) get engineered rather than refused.

Choosing a handheld comes down to three things: scan engine, battery life and OS support. If UHF is on the list, read what determines real UHF read range before you shortlist.

Ordering information

MOQ is 2 units, a sample is built in about 3 days and mass production runs about 25 days. Figures move when the PDA leaves its standard 5-inch build — imager, battery capacity or keypad layout — and those are quoted in writing before you order.

MOQ2 units. One for the picking trial and one for charging-dock and MDM testing.
SampleBuilt and shipped in about 3 days, a sample PDA is then checked against the acceptance criteria agreed with you — imager and keypad layout included — before mass production starts.
Lead timeAbout 25 days from sample approval to shipment for the configuration and quantity on your order. Scanner and battery verification for your market is written into the schedule before the first sample is built.
SDK and documentationAPI and SDK support for the modules fitted to your build — 2D imager, UHF RFID or NFC — plus the agreed specification sheet. Scan output formatting and intent or keystroke behaviour are confirmed before the order is placed.
CertificationThe Android 12 build carries GMS certification, and the scan engine is the genuine module from the named vendor rather than a copy, and the scan engine is the genuine module from the named vendor. Market-specific approvals — CE, UKCA, FCC or UN 38.3 — are agreed before production.
PackagingRetail box contents and carton dimensions are in the specification above; pallet quantities and incoterms are agreed with the order. Charging cradles and spare batteries can be packed per site to cut install time.

Frequently asked questions

Which scan engine should I choose?
All three decode standard 1D/2D codes. Choose Zebra SE4710 for the broadest ecosystem support, Honeywell HS7 for aggressive low-quality label decoding, Newland for cost-optimised fleets. Send us sample labels and we will recommend — and test — before you commit.
Can it read RFID and scan barcodes in one unit?
Yes. The 13.56 MHz RFID module coexists with the 2D imager; LF options (125K/134.2K) are also available. Module combinations are confirmed at order time.
Is the fingerprint module certified?
Yes — the capacitive fingerprint module carries Ministry of Public Security certification, suitable for identity-verification workflows.
4,000 mAh sounds small — will it last?
For scanning workflows it reliably covers an 8-hour shift; the smaller battery keeps the unit at 242 g. If your app streams data constantly, tell us and we will advise on duty cycle and charging strategy.
